Wunderbricks: an integration hub for external real-estate services in one programme

We have helped the start-up Wunderbricks connect multiple external services to their own management system. The latter was built with Salesforce but could not interact with other programmes that Wunderbricks' potential clients were already using. Using OutSystems, we therefore created an ‘integration hub’ that does facilitate these connections.
Wunderbricks was founded in 2019 and offers real-estate parties an innovative management system that houses all necessary external systems. Think of property owners who deal with accounting, inventory and lease agreements and need to manage all these processes and the documents involved.

Real-estate organisations do not all use the same external services. While one client might use accounting software from Exact, another will utilise Dynamics. In addition, every client naturally has his own (login) credentials for all these systems. Existing off-the-shelf solutions, however, did not offer the ability to set up the necessary connections flexibly. Instead, they generally try to capture all required functionality in one large, cumbersome system.
Wunderbricks therefore had a clear task: to encapsulate the variety of existing systems within a single programme. This would then support the entire business operations of clients without their having to give up their own trusted services. But how do you do that when your own software package does not offer that possibility?

We have set up an 'integration hub' for Wunderbricks in OutSystems, which allows the Wunderbricks system to connect with other external services. OutSystems acts as courier between the programme in Salesforce and these connected systems. The first connection we established was to Spaceflow, an environment focussed on tenants and contracts.
The next major step was integration with Exact Online, a financial package. A property manager can now create an invoice in the Wunderbricks programem, which is then sent to Exact via OutSystems. It is processed there, while the data, such as the payment status, are relayed back to Wunderbricks in real time.
Low barrier, high standard
With the integration hub, we enable Wunderbricks' clients to establish a connection with systems of their choice. To facilitate this, a great deal of attention was paid to creating intuitive and user-friendly screens so that this can be done smoothly. This makes Wunderbricks an accessible option for real-estate parties to house their entire business process in one programme — while still retaining the other services they were already using.
After developing the initial integrations, we handed the solution over to the internal Wunderbricks team. This gave Wunderbricks a head start in the expansion of their own system. They subsequently built a high-quality platform, which has since won them a large share of customers in real estate.
