CC Retail's transformation: A story of innovation and collaboration

Natalie Brik from Quatronic shares her experiences with the transformation of CC Retail and their journey to a new future.

Are you on the verge of a major change within your organization and are you wondering how best to approach it? In this blog, Natalie Brik, Business Technology Consultant at Quatronic, shares her experience with CC Retail's recent transformation. CC Retail focuses on providing sustainable, reusable load carriers to support and optimize logistics in the retail sector. After a company split, the organization had to reinvent itself. In this blog, Natalie explains how Quatronic helped CC Retail, not only with an IT solution, but also with a vision for the future.

The start of a new journey for CC Retail

After the division of the parent company CC Retail faced a considerable challenge. First of all, the organization had to break free from the parent organization's way of working and determine how it wanted to organize its own processes. Initially, people could get ahead with the parent company's software, but within a year, they had to have their own logistics IT solution that would seamlessly meet their unique wishes and needs. CC Retail engaged us at an early stage. In addition, we did not immediately look at the right technological solution, but, together with the CC Retail team, we first looked at the core of the company and how it wanted to operate in the future.

In practice: an in-depth dive into CC Retail's logistics

We investigated what the business processes looked like, what could be digitized and what could not, where the inefficiencies lay. We spoke not only with management, but also with the people in the workplace. What would they do differently if they had the chance to do it all over again? By going to the depots and talking to employees, we got a deep insight into what is important for all players in the process. Thanks to our hands-on approach, with an open mind and a willingness to learn and observe, we were able to design a solution that perfectly suited their real needs.

The Quatronic approach: looking beyond technology

We have nothing to do with standard lists and practices. We really take the time to understand our clients' business down to the last detail. Frank explained earlier in a blog, that, in our opinion, building good software starts with peeling the business. Especially in a situation like that of CC Retail, this means that you have to contribute ideas about the business processes, provide your insights back to the client and reflect on them together. For example, before looking at a technical solution, we first helped create a vision and a vision for the future for the organization. It is very exciting and educational to be involved so early in the process.

Distinctive character

In the first month of our project with CC Retail, we therefore mainly focused on contributing ideas about exactly what their core business entails. After all, that's what makes the difference. You are not going to stand out from your competitors with your accounting package or office application. After that, we advised CC Retail to opt for a low-code solution. We presented various alternatives and explained the pros and cons of each option. Ultimately, CC Retail decided to follow our advice.

Successful realization and implementation: from strategy to action

After extensively formulating the vision and digital strategy — a phase that in itself represented a complete and valuable project — it was time for the next step: implementation. Of course, this phase fits seamlessly with the strategic planning, but we really see this as a separate project. This underlines that, as Quatronic, we not only build IT solutions, but also act as a strategic partner in formulating digital strategies. This way, we can help organizations develop a digital vision, regardless of whether they proceed directly to the implementation phase. The developed application for CC Retail, which we realized and implemented within the planned time, is an example of how these two phases together can provide a seamless end result. We received a lot of compliments on how user-friendly and intuitive the application is. Even after staff changes, where new people had to take over the system without extensive training, it turned out that everyone understood the system quickly. For us, this is proof that we have not only set the right strategic course, but have also effectively implemented it.
