In the seat next to the customer. Together towards the optimal solution

This blog is machine translated to English.

We previously wrote a blog about the power of collaboration. To be a truly valuable partner, we want to experience an organization's daily challenges, processes and needs from within. In this blog, Wouter van der Meij, Co-Founder of Quatronic and Business Technology Consultant, explains how we do that.

Immerse yourself in your organization

The work we do at Quatronic is not a matter of: the customer asks, we run. I wrote before: we are no stranger to a bit of stubbornness. We want to understand what your organization really needs. And is that what you're asking for actually where the needs lie? There is only one way to discover that, and that is entirely because of us to immerse in your organization. We want to know what you think success looks like. This is the only way we really discover how your processes can be improved with low-code.

You achieve results together

We were therefore very happy when the corona measures were abolished. For the world, but also for ourselves. Not only were we finally allowed to sit back together as a team, we were also able to go back to our customers then. We are convinced: achieving results is something you do together, with your own team, but also with the organizations you work for. Of course, you can also be a successful organization without an office. Just look at the international software company GitLab, no office in sight, but quite successfully. We have explicitly chosen to have an office and meet regularly with the team. The great thing about being in the office together is that you build a good relationship with all colleagues, because you also see colleagues who are on other projects regularly. This is not only very pleasant, it also provides the much-needed exchange of knowledge. What one person runs into, another may have tackled on another project before. Physical togetherness also promotes collaboration on internal projects. You get more from each other and you can give each other feedback faster and easier. As a result, you learn more from each other.

More colleague than consultant

At the same time, we find it very important to be in the office with the customer. It may sound like a death eater, but at the coffee machine, you hear things you really don't hear during a Teams meeting. Not only do you hear things, you also see what people frolic with. You'll experience what makes employees happy and what they need. Physical collaboration is also very useful, for example, for coming up with solutions. This way, we can switch directly with those involved and draw out processes together on a whiteboard or make some sketches on paper. It also makes it easier to teach employees how to work with a solution that has already been (partially) built. By being in the customer's workplace, you become more of a colleague than a consultant. We believe that is very powerful. By being so close — literally — you get more done. Not by sitting in the customer's chair, but by sitting next to him and finding out the true nature of the challenge together. We don't think about what a customer needs, we help the customer discover what their real challenge is. And we won't leave until the result is there. That is the power of co-creation.
